Getting Started with Web Interface Design

Before diving into our comprehensive web interface design programs, let's make sure you're set up for success. Here's everything you need to know before beginning your journey.

Essential Prerequisites

  • Basic Computer Skills

You should be comfortable navigating file systems, installing software, and working with multiple browser windows. No coding experience required yet.

  • Design Awareness

Start paying attention to websites you visit daily. What makes some interfaces intuitive while others frustrate you? This mindset shift is crucial.

  • Time Commitment

Plan for 8-12 hours weekly study time. This isn't just watching videos — you'll be practicing, experimenting, and building real projects.

  • Creative Curiosity

The best interface designers ask "why" constantly. Why does this button placement work? How does color affect user behavior? Embrace that questioning mindset.

  • Technical Setup

A decent computer with at least 8GB RAM, reliable internet, and willingness to learn industry-standard tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

Your Path Forward

Once you're ready to begin, here's how we'll guide you through the initial phase. Our autumn 2025 cohorts start accepting applications in June.

1

Skills Assessment

We'll evaluate your current abilities through a practical design challenge — not a test, but a conversation about how you approach problems and think about user needs.

2

Program Matching

Based on your assessment and goals, we'll recommend either our comprehensive 12-month program or specialized 6-month tracks focusing on specific aspects of interface design.

3

Prep Phase

Before classes begin, you'll receive curated resources, software setup guidance, and access to our student community where you can connect with future classmates.
